Eileen Chang is the founder and the Conductor of the New Choir. She
received her master's degree in choral conducting from the Westminster
Choir College, in Princeton, New Jersey. At Westminster, Ms. Chang studied with
Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt and performed
as a member of the Westminster
Choir. She has sung under the direction of Flummerfelt, Kurt Mazur, Lorin Maazel,
and Wolf Sawallisch in various venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center,
Carenegie Hall and the Spoleto Festival USA. Ms. Chang's music is influenced by
the tutelage of Hoon Cha Chai, Joseph Flummerfelt, and Christian Grube.
Ms. Chang is passionate about choral music and all related activities. She
has served on the choral conducting faculty at the Presbyterian
Seminary of Korea and Hyupsung University, lecturing in Conducting
Technique and Choral Literature. She recently conducted the Cantabella Children's Choir at the
2009 Golden Gate International Children and Youth Choral Festival where the choir
was honored with first place in the Historic category and second place in the Folk
song category while Ms. Chang received the Jury Commendation for Conducting.
Ms. Chang works with the
Santa Cruz Chorale as the substitute conductor and also directs the Honor Choir
of the Cantabella Children's Choir. She
